Running an Office for a Sports Team

Aside from the players, trainers and coaches, there are other people behind the scenes who are involved in the overall operations of a professional sports team. Some of these people are inside an office, the team's headquarters, doing clerical work and acting as a support system for the team. The duties of these office people may include, among other things, calculating the salaries of all team employees, manoeuvring the team's media mileage, and scouting for strategies and updates to improve the team's performance. In other words, though they work inside the office, they are still important in helping the team achieve its winning ways.

Due to the diversity of the work at hand and the dynamic nature of the sport itself, the team office must be able to delegate tasks well. There must be a clear delineation as to where a certain person's job begins and where it ends. On the other hand, there must be a definite agreement on where the office people must formulate their ideas and strategies to propel the team to greatness. After all, it is their collective job to take care of the little things so that the coaches and players can concentrate on the biggest goal: winning.

 Ideally, there should be somebody (normally the team manager) who will act as the overall supervisor of the team office. He should be the one to oversee if all employees are fulfilling their respective duties and responsibilities. Furthermore, he is also the one who must take care that there is a constant flow of miscellaneous items. This is to ensure that office supplies are always available and in stock for daily operational needs.
